Black History Month Celebration: A Christian Experience
Today, as in yesterday, the African American church is being challenged to minister to African American families. Because of its crisis state, the urgency of the situtaion is drawing the attention of all who view the grim statistics. Despite the gains made during the Civil Rights Movement, there is a continued sense of rage among young African Americans that substantiates a break down in the family structure.
A Black History Celebration takes this issue to another level. It develops an appreciation for a rich history and fosters enlightened and responsible actions despite wide-spread discrimination that exists in this country. It also cystallizes the strength and mission of a people, resulting in a greater unity of minds and purpose. Reverend Wyatt Tee Walker once said.....
